Initially I wasn’t aware that Chloe X Halle was going to have a new album out this year—until a few days before it was released—and I have to admit that it was a welcome surprise. I was more than excited to give it a listen, and Ungodly Hour was a fantastic album. It’s a solid addition to their body of work, and it continued to showcase the kind of consistent talent—lyrically and vocally—that Chloe X Halle have already demonstrated in the past. That was especially evident with their album The Kids Are Alright.
Ungodly Hour was a blend of Hip-Hop and R&B sounds with a touch of Pop. It’s not necessarily a new sound for Chloe X Halle, but the tone and subject of the music was markedly different. The change was nice, and overall Ungodly Hour was refreshing to listen to.
The intro was brief but a strong beginning to Ungodly Hour. It really set the tone for what was to come next. While the sound of the album’s three singles—Do it, Forgive Me, and Catch Up with Swae Lee featuring Mike Will Made-It—are already familiar. The beat combined with Chloe X Halle’s vocals, made Tipsy by far one the catchiest songs on the album. The same could also be said about the titular song, Ungodly Hour, as well as the rest of the track list. The outro, ROYL, was one of my top-favorite songs from the album. The beat was catchy, and I liked how the whole song came together. It was also the perfect note to end the album on.
Fun and lyrically great, Ungodly Hour is one of the best albums I’ve listened to so far this year.
Ungodly Hour was released on June 11, 2020. Have you listened to music by Chloe X Halle? Are you planning to give this album a listen?

Music Monday (119): Chloe X Halle, Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas, and Maroon 5
Breana: I have some new music to talk about today. Jessica Hernandez has a new song out called Thank God. It's probably one of my all-time favorite songs by this artist.
Chloe X Halle's new album, Ungodly Hour, came out last Friday. I love it, and I'll talk more about it later on a separate post. For today, I wanted to mention one of my favorite songs from it, the outro called ROYL.
Andrea: Hi all, this week I'm listening to Memories by Maroon 5. I saw Maroon 5 perform at Jimmy Kimmel Live!. I've always loved their music, which can often be found on my playlist. As always, stay safe and have a great week!
What are you listening to this week? Have you found any new songs or artists to listen to?

Music Monday (41): Chloe X Halle
Rules:
Breana: This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned Chloe X Halle on a Music Monday post. It’s just been a while. Since then, on March 23rd, they released their debut studio album, The Kids are Alright. And I love it. So, my first pick is Warrior. You might recognize the song since it appeared on A Wrinkle in Time (2018) soundtrack. It’s also on their new album….

My second pick is Galaxy. I also love this song. In fact, it fits with the sound of the album and is one of my favorite songs by Chloe x Halle.
I recommend checking out the entire album, because it’s pretty
awesome. What are you listening to this week?

Music Monday (8) Chloe X Halle
Rules:
Fall is just as great. The vocals and lyrics are the star of the show, and just like Drop above, the filming of the music video is spot on.
Adri is off to Hollywood to see a show, so today, I'm doing Music Monday alone. Hopefully, she'll have the time next week and be back with more recommendations. Until them, I'm going to go ahead and share some of the music I've been listening to recently.
My picks this week are Fall and Drop by Chloe X Halle. I absolutely love their music, and I’m only sad that I didn’t discover them sooner. The music videos for Drop and Fall are also really gorgeous. The locations used were just spot on. These are two of the best songs I’ve come across this year. Drop is positively fantastic and the first song I actually heard by Chloe X Halle. I really enjoy the background music as well as the vocals.
What new music are you listening to this week?
