In the past, I’ve listened to Halsey’s music on an off, and I’ve had my favorite songs over the years. I’m being completely honest when I say that I forgot If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was coming out this year. Then the album came up on my feed, and I have to say that I like what Halsey did here. If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was an atmospheric listen. It’s some of the most thematic pieces of work I’ve listened to from Halsey. The lyrics were vulnerable and personal but also hard hitting, and the music was ambitious with an excellent delivery. It was still pop, but there was an edgier and darker feeling and tone to it that proved to make for an engrossing album. Some of my favorite tracks included the opening called The Tradition—which had a haunting sound—along with Bells of Santa Fe, Girl Is a Gun, Easier than Lying, I Am Not A Woman I’m A God, You Asked For This, and Whispers. At the end of the day, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power is one of my favorite albums of 2021.

Music Monday (133): Halsey, Aloe Blacc, Lone
Rules:
Breana: This week, I'm listening to Halsey's new song, I'm Not Mad. This is one of my favorite tracks by this artist to date. It's on my playlist, and I have it on repeat.
Adri: Lately, I've been listening to Lone's newer releases. I think I've said it before, but I'm saying it again: I have yet to be disappointed by Lone's music. Anyway, my pick is Boketto.
Andrea: Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well while listening to great music. This week, I've been listening to My Way and I Do by Aloe Blacc. Both songs are from his new album, All Love Everything. Have an amazing week!

Music Monday (28) Halsey
Rules:
My second pick is Bad at Love. I won’t waste time by explaining what I like about this song. All I have to say is: give it a listen.
Breana: A couple of weeks back, I mentioned that Halsey’s new album came out, and since then I’ve been pretty much listening to Hopeless Fountain Kingdom on repeat. I really love the look and sound of this album. So, I don’t have any new artist to talk about today, only a couple more of my favorite songs from Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.
My first pick this week is Now or Never. Oh man, I love this song. There’s something about it that just speaks to me. Then again, I feel that way about the entire album so my opinion about the song is clearly biased.
My second pick is Bad at Love. I won’t waste time by explaining what I like about this song. All I have to say is: give it a listen.

Music Monday (25) Halsey, Hayley Kiyoko, Aanysa X Snakehips, & Ibeyi
Rules:
My second pick this week is Strangers by Halsey featuring Lauren Jauregui. First off, NEW MUSIC BY HALSEY, YESSSS! I have been waiting for Hopeless Fountain Kingdom for what seems like forever, but now it’s out. Strangers is one of my favorite songs from the album.
Adri: My choices for Music Monday today are basically two songs that have been stuck in my head for the past month. My first pick is Burn Break Crash by Aanysa X Snakehips. I love it simply because it always makes me want to sing along and dance. Plus, I can't forget it...
My second pick is River by Ibeyi. Even though I find it kind of simple (less instrumental sounds than other songs I listen to) it really draws me in, just like Burn Break Crash did.
Breana: Once again, I was going through some of my old playlists from years ago, and I happened to come across This Side of Paradise by Hayley Kiyoko. I actually forgot about this song for a while. Here’s a fun fact: Hayley Kiyoko actually played Velma in the two live-action Scooby-Doo movies, Curse of the Lake Monster & The Mystery Begins. I totally did not know that until I looked up Hayley Kiyoko while working on this post, to see if she had any new music out.

Music Monday (1) Halsey
Rules:
A while ago, I tried out a meme called Thursday Tracks, but it just didn't work out for me. So, I wanted to try out something music related on a different day of the week. While participating in the Friday 56 meme, I stumbled across Music Monday on one of the blogs I visited. In the end, I decided to re-purpose the art I'd made for the Thursday Tracks, since I still wanted to use them.
I'm still going to participate in Musing Monday, but I wanted to do something not related to books too.
Recently, I've listened to a lot of Halsey's music. I've basically had Badlands on repeat. My three top favorite songs off the album are Young God, Control, and Gasoline.
