Synopsis from Goodreads...
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkeness bind them
In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.
Beginning: "When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was mush talk and excitement in Hobbiton."
56: "Gandalf looked at Frodo, and his eyes glinted."
Comments: I have finally read the first part of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. I didn't remember much of the movie trilogy, because it's been so long since I first saw them. I had a lot of fun reading this story. What are you reading this week?
It's been way too long since I've read these, but I did just recently rewatch the movies. :)
ReplyDeleteLauren @ Always Me
I've only rewatched The Fellowship of the Ring so far, because it came on TV after I read the book. I still want to eventually get the DVDs, but I probably won't watch them until I finish reading The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI should reread the series. It has been years since I first read it. This week I'm spotlighting The Left-Handed Booksellers of London by Garth Nix. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :-)
DeleteI read this book many moons ago, as well as the ones that followed. I've often thought of revisiting and rereading them, but my TBR list is already too long. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteI've never read any of these books, but I do love the cover. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI also like this version of the cover. My copy actually doesn't have this one, because its the gray 50th anniversary edition. However, I'm using this variant since I'm reviewing each part of The Lord of the Rings separately. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI love the Lord of the Rings books. My husband had been trying to get me to read it for years, telling me I'd like it, but it wasn't until after I saw the first movie that I picked up the book. And he was right! Then I found out he never got through the books. Haha. I always tease him about it. I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the books.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I just started reading The Two Towers, and so far I'm enjoying it as much as The Fellowship of the Ring. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
DeleteSeen all of the films, read none of the books. :-) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :-)
DeleteI loved the Hobbit, but couldn’t really get into the LoT trilogy for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read The Hobbit yet, but I may go back and read it after I finish the trilogy. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWhen I read the synopsis, I realized I probably wouldn't have picked up the books based on that. Sounds kind of dry.
ReplyDeleteI've read the books twice and watched the movies twice, plus watched Tolkein the movie. Yes, a fan.
I noticed that as well. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI love the cover, and I'm curious about the book. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

DeleteI read The Hobbit many years ago and meant to get around to this one, but for some reason never did. Maybe one of these days. I loved the movies. Hope you have a great weekend! :)
