Synopsis from Goodreads...
In the third volume of The Lord of the Rings trilogy the good and evil forces join battle, and we see that the triumph of good is not absolute. The Third Age of Middle-earth ends, and the age of the dominion of Men begins.
Beginning: "Pippin looked out from the shelter of Gandalf's cloak."
56: "A young man, Merry thought as he returned the glance, less in height and girth than most."
Comments: I have finally read The Return of the King, and so I can mark The Lord of the Rings off my TBR list. I had a great time reading this story. What are you reading this week?
It took me longer than I'd like to admit to fully read the whole trilogy but that was because I loved taking my time with it and dipped into The Silmarillion occasionally! Also, is that the cover of your edition, cause it's fascinating! I love the design of it :O Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a lovely weekend :)

It took me a while to read the full story too, but there was a lot of details to remember about the characters and setting. And no, it's not the cover of my edition. I have the gray vinyl-bound deluxe version. I'm using these covers on my posts, because I reviewed the three parts of the story separately. It was more convenient that way. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI have been curious about Tolkien's books for years...and someday will have to read them! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :-)
DeleteA nice reminder of my youth--when I read all the Lord of the Rings novels, and when life was less stressful and more kind and gentle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteLove those snippets. I really need to read this series one of these days. Love the movies. Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember too much about the last two movies of the trilogy (it's been a long time since I saw them), but they were part of the reason why I wanted to read The Lord of the Rings. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGreat choice!! Happy weekend!

DeleteI remember reading these books when I was a teen. They are remarkable. My Friday quotes from This Tender Land
ReplyDeleteThey are. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteLove this! It's been so long since I read Lord of the Rings. Hopefully I'll get to re-read soon.

Rereading a favorite novel is always fun. I would actually give The Lord of the Rings another read already, but I don't have the time for it right now. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI didn't read the LOTR books until a few years ago. I probably would have enjoyed them more when I was younger, but I enjoyed them well enough. I'm glad I read them because they are such classics!
ReplyDeleteI'm also glad I finally read The Lord of the Rings. I'm the opposite though. I have a feeling I wouldn't have enjoyed them as much, because my reading tastes back then were very different. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI haven't read any of Tolkien's books, but the excerpts are attention grabbers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Deleteso glad you read this amazing trilogy. I just started another classic, actually by a Tolkien's buddy: Owen Barfield. The book is History in English Words, fascinating if you love languages
