Music Monday (123): Zella Day, Van Hunt, Meghan Trainor, Alice Francis

   Rules:

Breana: Recently I've been listening to music by Zella Day again. It's been a while, so I haven't kept up with much of her more recent music. One of my favorite songs so far is People Are Strangers.

I'm also listening to music by Meghan Trainor. Make You Dance is one of my favorite songs by her.

Adri: I've already featured Alice Francis, but I've been listening to Electric Shock in full. I love the whole album, but my picks today are Falling Star, Follow the Instruction (Interlude), and Electric Shock

Electric Shock isn't actually fourteen minutes. There's another verson of Beatptized at 10:17

Andrea: This week I'm listening to What Can I Say (For Millicent) by Van Hunt. Although this song isn't new, this is the first that I've heard of this artist. I also fell in love with Her Smile. Although, it is an unreleased track, there is a link to the song on Van Hunt's Facebook page from 2013. I hope everyone has an amazing week. Stay safe!

I Listened to Treat Myself by Meghan Trainor...

Meghan Trainor’s long-awaited album, Treat Myself, is finally out, and I gave it a listen.
I have been waiting for Treat Myself since I heard about it from one of my co-bloggers sometime last year. It was one of my most anticipated albums of 2020, and it's finally here. It was as good as I hoped it would be, and it was also nothing like I expected—and I mean that in a good way too. Meghan Trainor outdid herself. Treat Myself is a light, fun, and creative foray into the pop genre. It's probably my favorite body-of-work by Meghan Trainor to date.
Treat Myself had a strong “love yourself"/self-empowerment message throughout the full track list. The lyrics, the sound, and the energy of the tracks complimented Trainor’s vocals. The collaborations are particularly good like Nice to Meet Ya featuring Nicki Minaj, Genetics featuring The Pussycat Dolls, and After You featuring AJ Mitchell, etc.. The solo songs are just as good on their own, and some of my favorites include Babygirl, Evil Twin, and Blink.
Treat Myself is definitely a new favorite. I enjoyed the whole album, and I'm looking forward to Trainor's next project.
Have you listened to Treat Myself? If so, what did you think about it?

Music Monday (102): Brian King Joseph, Meghan Trainor, Nicki Minaj, Saweetie, & GALXARA

   Rules:

Breana: My pick this week is Sway With Me by Saweetie and GALXARA. Every new song I hear from Birds of Prey has me more and more excited for the movie and the album.

Adri: My pick for today is Nice to Meet Ya by Meghan Trainor featuring Nicki Minaj. The last time I mentioned Trainor in Music Monday was when her new album Treat Myself was suppose to be released. Well, plot twist, it was delayed. But it's out now and I love the album. There is also a Target exclusive CD, which you can find here.

Andrea: I saw Brian King Joseph preform three times live at America's Got Talent. He's such a phenomenal performer who’s in a league of his own. I'm ecstatic that he's released his first original song. I highly recommend his music, so take a listen to Spark below.

I’m looking forward to discovering what you're listening to. Have an amazing week!

Music Monday (54): Res, RL Grime, Delta Heavy, & Meghan Trainor

   Rules:
  • Music Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Lauren Stoolfire at Always Me that asks you to share one or two songs that you've recently enjoyed. For the rules, visit the page HERE
Breana: I’ve been listening to some newer music—like Nicki Minaj's album, Queen—but instead I wanted to mention one of my all-time favorite songs. So, today, I’m talking about Ice King by Res. I don’t recall when I first heard this song. I just know that it was a while ago. I like Res’s style, but Ice King is extra fantastic and it also happens to be the song that introduced me to her music...

Adri: Lately I've  practically been listening to the same group of songs, so here's two of them. Reminder (feat. How To Dress Well) (Jonah Baseball Remix) By RL Grime, and Ghost (Infuze Remix) by Delta Heavy. With both of these songs I adore the originals, but these remixes really stood out to me.

Andrea: On August 6th, Adri and I attended Meghan Trainor’s Jimmy Kimmel Live performance. Her live performance was amazing, and I absolutely fell in love with her new song, Treat Myself. You can check out the video below. It is available for pre-order now and will be released on August 31st, which is this Friday. Needless to say, I’ll be purchasing a copy of her new album, Treat Myself, and adding it to my playlist.
