For my 56 this week I selected Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, a book I'm currently in the middle of reading. In the past I have read two books by Stiefvater, and it seems to be hit or miss with me. I either love them or I don't.
Synopsis from Goodreads...
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever...
"Pulling his cell phone from his pocket, he punched a quick number and held the phone to his ear. His eyebrows made a straight, hard line, and after a second, he pulled the phone away and stared at the screen"--Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
What's on your page 56 this week? Or, is there a book you plan to read over the weekend?
I haven't yet read this author, but I am curious about her books. Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “THE NEIGHBORS”

The Raven Boys was pretty good, and so far Shiver seems to be alright. I just hope it continues to be that way. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteShe's one of my favorite authors right now. :) I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
Stiefvater does have interesting novels, but it's been hit-or-miss for me. So far, Shiver is going ok, and I hope it stays that way by the time I get to the end. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI'm the same way about Stiefvater's books. I have not even started her newest series though I have them on TBR mountain. I did like Shiver though. I'm spotlighting The Leveler by Julia Durango - a science fiction book from my review stack. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy Stiefvater's writing style, but sometimes I just can't get into the story. The Raven Boys was pretty good, but I haven't gone very far with that series. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
DeleteI feel like that quote doesn't tell me much. Is he a good/bad guy? Is this reality/fantasy? It makes me want more.
ReplyDeleteHope you can stop by. http://evilverlordthoughts.com
Shiver definitely has some fantasy elements to it. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
DeleteThe excerpt didn't especially interest me, but I like the story's synopsis. Sounds like there's plenty of conflict (and some romance too).
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog today.

I kind of had to pick a couple of sentences that weren't spoilers for the first part of the book. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend. :)
DeleteThis series is on my TBR. I've been really wanting to read some of Stiefvater's books and I've heard tons of raves. Enjoy your reading!
ReplyDeleteI have too, which is why I decided to give Shiver a try. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend. :)
DeleteI wasn't a big fan of this book, but I do love her other series. I do recall that despite not loving it, I really liked Sam.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, have a great weekend.
DeleteI'd like to read this one.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
