Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For!

It’s only March, and I didn’t think I would be back so soon with a proper “Upcoming Music I’m Waiting For,” except there have been some developments on that front. So here I am.

First up, Normani has announced her long-awaited debut album: Dopamine. There’s no concrete release date as of writing this, but from everything I could find out about it, it seems like it’ll drop sometime in 2024.

Next, Tierra Whack is returning with her second studio album called: World Wide Whack. The wait for this one is super short, since it’s going to be released on March 15.

Later this month, on the 29th, BeyoncĂ© is finally releasing the follow-up to Renaissance, Act ii. While the former album was inspired by house, this one is, from what I’ve read—and the genre of the two singles—is going to be country.

Then there’s Conan Gray’s upcoming third album, Found Heaven. I’ve only started listening to this artist recently, because of Never Ending Song (coincidently one of the singles from Found Heaven). Even so, I’m anticipating its release on April 5th.

Later in April, on the 19th, Taylor Swift is releasing The Tortured Poets Department. I’m a much more casual listener, when it comes to Taylor Swift. But, from time to time, I’ve liked some of her music. And I’m interested in seeing where this one goes.

On May 17th, Twenty One Pilots is releasing their next album: Clancy. It's the conclusion to the storyline that began with Blurryface (2015) and continued with Trench (2018) and Scaled & Icy (2021). The first single from Clancy, Overcompensate, has me very excited to see what the rest of the album has to offer.

And last but not least, there seem to be some rumblings about a new FKA Twigs album and one from Doechii as well. I’m going to have to keep my eye on that.

That’s it for me, for today. Have you listened to any good music lately?

Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For

It’s June. A whole six months are already gone, but since we’re finally entering the second half of 2023, it was high time that I put together another list of the upcoming music I’m looking forward to.

  • Feed the Beast by Kim Petras (June 23): I’ve been following Kim Petras’s music for a while now, so I’m ecstatic about this new album.
  • Weedkiller by Ashnikko (August 25): I listen to Ashnikko on occasion. After her Coachella performance, I’ve had a renewed interest. So, Weedkiller is definitely on the top of my list for upcoming albums.
  • Tension by Kylie Minogue (September 22): Minogue is one of my favorite artists, and my most anticipated album for the second half of 2023 is this one. There have been two singles released—10 Out of 10, and the more recent Padam Padam—and, so far, I’m liking the vibe.
Unconfirmed
  • Second studio album by Lil Nas X: I really liked Lil Nas X’s first studio album, Montero. So I’m looking forward to his next one. The date is unconfirmed for this one, so who knows if it’ll be released sometime in 2023 or next year.
  • Fourth Studio album by Doja Cat: The date is also unconfirmed as of the time I wrote this post, so there aren’t any singles that I know of yet. But, I’ve done some reading up about this album, and it seems like it could be a lot different from what I’ve come to expect from Doja Cat. However, I’m looking forward to that.

So, that’s everything I’m looking forward to at the moment. As always, this list isn’t comprehensive and depends on my taste in music. What music are you waiting for? If you have any good recommendations, just leave them in the comments below.

Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For Part 2 (2022)

Since its March (already three months into 2022), I thought I would revisit the subject of upcoming music. Some more stuff has been announced, and a couple of the albums I’m very excited for.

Today is also the 15th of March, which is Our Thoughts Precisely's blogiversary. The blog is officially 9 years old! I never have anything specifically planned for this day, but I thought I would mention it here. Thanks again to all the people who have stopped by, read our posts, and left blog comments.

Now, onto the list....

  • Serpentina by Banks (April 8, 2022): Recently, there has been a trickle of singles coming out from Banks. Serpentina has finally been announced, and I like what I’ve heard so far. So I’m very excited to see what’s in store from the follow-up to 2019’s III.
  • Back From the Dead by Halestorm (May 6, 2022): It’s been a while since I regularly followed Halestorm’s music, but I’m anticipating their next album, Back From the Dead.
  • Explosions by Three Days Grace (May 6, 2022): Three Days Grace was a band I used to listen to when I was younger. I’ve been listening to some of their recent stuff, and I’m excited for this album.
  • Palaces by Flume (Mary 20, 2022): I liked Flume’s 2016 album, Skin, so I had to add Palaces to this list.
  • Other albums with limited information (TBA; To Be Announced): Saweetie, Rina Sawayama, Kimbra, Cardi B.

That’s it for now. As always, my lists are ever changing. So who knows, maybe there will be part three of "upcoming music I’m waiting for" later in the year. We’ll see.

What upcoming albums are you waiting for?

Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For (2021)

It’s already four months into 2021, and I figured it was a good time to sit down and compile a better list of all the music I’m waiting for. I already mentioned two of my top upcoming releases back in January—Last Year Was Weird Vol. 3 by Tkay Maidza and The Bitter Truth by Evanescence—so for today I’m going to focus on ones I haven’t already gone over.

Untitled album by Kimbra (release date: TBA): There’s not much about this album yet—no title or release date—just THIS tweet on Kimbra’s twitter account. Primal Heart was one of my favorite 2018 albums, so I’m beyond excited about Kimbra coming back with new music.

Pink Noise by Laura Mvula (release date: July 2, 2021): I’m so excited for Laura Mvula’s third studio album. I’ve been listening to Mvula’s music more often lately, and I was just thinking about whether or not she would release another album anytime soon. I saw the announcement for Pink Noise, and it’s undoubtedly one of my most anticipated releases of 2021. Luckily the wait for it isn't too long.

Alpha by CL (release date: TBA 2021): I used to listen to 2NE1 a long time ago. They were one of my favorite groups, and it was sad when they disbanded. That being said, I’m glad CL is back and releasing more music, because the singles released for Alpha are so good so far. I’m really excited for this one.

Planet Her by Doja Cat (release date: TBA): I like Doja Cat’s music, and Hot Pink was one of my favorite albums the year it came out. So I’m looking forward to this one.

Scaled And Icy by Twenty One Pilots (release date: May 21, 2021): I'm so excited for this album! I've been a fan of this band since the Blurryface days, and I've been waiting for the followup to Trench (2018) since its initial release. Luckily the wait for Scaled And Icy won't be too long.

So that’s it for today. This list will of course change as the year goes on, but for now this is everything I’m waiting for. What music are you excited for? Are there any new releases you’ve listened to and enjoyed? If so, leave your suggestions in the comments.

Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For....

It has been a minute since I last looked at some of the music coming out in 2020. There aren’t that many months left to the year, so I recently checked to see what upcoming albums there were. So, here is a list of everything I’m looking forward to, which is also known as: everything is coming out in August.

  • Use Me by PVRIS (August 28, 2020): I’m still waiting for this album. I believe it was supposed to be released in July, but the release date got postponed. It is what it is.
  • Where Does The Devil Hide by Zella Day (August 28, 2020): It’s been a while since I last listened to music by Zella Day. The other day, I was looking through some of my favorite songs, and her music came up. So I’m looking forward to this album.
  • Energy by Disclosure (August 28, 2020): I’ve listened to and liked music by Disclosure in the past, so their upcoming album, Energy, had to be on this list.
  • Jaguar by Victoria Monet (August 7, 2020): I’ve listened to some of Victoria Monet’s music before, and I’m looking forward to Jaguar.

This list isn't set in stone and it will likely change as more music is announced or delayed. For now, however, these are the albums I’m waiting for. What have you been listening to recently? If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments.

Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For: Second Half Of The Year

Listen, there have been a lot of good albums released in the first six months of the year. Despite how many I’ve already listened to, there are many more I’ve yet to get to. I’m looking forward to the second half of the year and all the music that’ll be coming out before January 2020. Some of my favorite artists are back with new albums to be released sometime in 2019, and oh man, I’m so excited.

(**Note: “current singles to listen to from” = songs that are available to listen to from the upcoming albums.**)

lll by Banks
Banks is back. It’s been about three years since The Altar was released, and I loved that album. Of course, Banks released two singles in 2017: Underdog and Crowded Spaces. Those were really good on their own. However, I’ve wanted another full album: a follow-up to The Altar. And it’s happening. Luckily, the wait won’t be too long since lll comes out on July 12, 2019.

Current singles to listen to from lll...
  • Gimme
  • Look What You’re Doing to Me

Charli by Charli XCX
With songs like You (Ha Ha Ha), Take My Hand, and Black Roses, Charli XCX’s True Romance album is one of my favorite releases of 2013. Admittedly, I haven’t kept up with some of her more recent music. However, her new album, Charli, has caught my attention because of the collaborations with Lizzo, Troye Sivan, and others. Charli releases on September 13, 2019.

Current singles to listen to from Charli...
  • 1999
  • Blame It On Your Love

Sunshine Kitty by Tove Lo
Out of all the music on this list, Sunshine Kitty is the album I’m most looking forward to. I have Tove Lo’s first three albums. She’s an artist I consistently listen to and buy music from. I am beyond excited for Sunshine Kitty. There’s no release day yet, but it says 2019. So, I have my finger’s crossed that the wait won’t be too long.

Current singles to listen to from Sunshine Kitty
  • Glad He’s Gone
Halsey
You know, I’ve listened to both of Halsey’s albums—Hopeless Fountain Kingdom and Badlands—and I’ve liked them. So, I’m looking forward to Halsey’s next album (No name or release date yet).

There are, of course, many other albums coming out between July and the end of the year. However, these are the main ones I’m waiting for. What upcoming music are you waiting for? Or, what are some recent singles, albums, or eps you’ve listened to?

Upcoming Music I'm Waiting For + Recent Releases I'm Listening To...

One of the topics I wanted to talk about before it got too late into 2019, is some of the upcoming music I’m looking forward to. Of course, we’re 3 months into year, and I can’t forget about the recent releases. There have been a number of excellent albums and singles that are already available, and some of them—like Lizzo’s Juice—have me excited for albums releasing in the coming months. So, I went on a music listening binge to see what I could find....

Upcoming Albums…

Cuz I Love You by Lizzo (April 19, 2019): This is probably my most anticipated album of 2019, because I’ve been waiting for more new music by Lizzo. I’ve already gotten that with singles like Juice and Cuz I Love You, which are excellent and catchy songs. If you haven’t listened to them yet, I highly recommend that you do. They have me hyped to see what the rest of the album has to offer. Luckily, the wait won’t be too long, because Cuz I Love You will be out in April 2019, and I can’t wait to listen to it.

Legacy! Legacy! By Jamila Woods (May 10, 2019): Recently, I’ve been into music by Jamila Woods. I like what I’ve already heard, and I’m also a fan of how the music videos for Woods songs are filmed and edited. As such, I’m looking forward to Legacy! Legacy!.

TBA (To be announced)

***This is the section for untiled or upcoming albums that don’t have a concrete release date. However, there’s no reason why I can’t get excited about them now.***

Adele: I’ve liked Adele’s music in the past and am looking forward to her next album.

Rhianna: I’m still over here waiting for the follow-up to Anti. And you know what? I will wait for as long as I have to.

October 2018 – March 2019 Recent Releases

Don’t Feed the Pop Monster by Broods (February 1, 2019): I’m more of a casual listener when it comes to music by Broods. I had my favorite songs. Still, I was looking forward to their new album: Don’t Feed the Pop Monster. I like it. It’s cohesive and interesting, and offers a good listening experience. Now, I want to go back and give their earlier music a serious listen.

Saturn by Nao (October 26, 2018): I continue to enjoy music by Nao, and, unfortunately, when Saturn came out, I completely missed it. I have since rectified that and, you guys, Saturn is so good. I don’t know what else to say about it, because there are so many excellent songs on the album like: the titular Saturn, the catchy beat and lyrics of Love Supreme, and the phenomenal songs Orbit, Drive and Disconnect, Curiosity, and many more.

So, that’s about it for today. I know this list will change as the year goes on, and more stuff is announced. However, for now, that’s it. What music are you listening to? Or, what are some of the upcoming 2019 albums you’re looking forward to?

That Post Titled: a.k.a. Everything Is being Released in March and April...

Today, I'm here to talk about music.  Since my last music oriented post (not Music Monday), I've sporadically worked on a new list of recent releases and upcoming albums that I wanted to talk about. This is also going to be a bit of a review/reaction type post, because the excellence is everywhere with these new releases.…

Invasion of Privacy (Cardi B)—I mentioned this one last time, but since this an update post and there has been news, I have to include Cardi B again. I happened to catch part of the iheart music awards when Cardi B announced that the release date for her album. Invasion of Privacy was released on April 6, 2018. And I like it. It met all my expectations for what I was hoping Cardi B's studio album would be. There are a lot of catchy songs on the album and some familiar tracks, i.e. Bodak Yellow and Bartier Cardi. Some of the other songs required a second listen for me to really appreciate the sound and lyrics, but overall, Invasion of Privacy was a strong studio album debut.

Expectations (Hayley Kiyoko)—I did not realize that Hayley Kiyoko was about to release a new album. She is. And there’s no wait because Expectations was released on March 30, 2018. I haven't gone through the whole album yet, but I liked the songs I've already listened to.

Joyride (Tinashe)—Joyride also had an April release date. Out of all the music/albums I'm mentioning today, I was most excited for Joyride. Tinashe has been an artists I've followed off and on over the last couple of years. Then No Drama happened, and my excitment for the album was rampped up by at least ten fold. I don't know what I was expecting, but oh my goodness, the entire album not only met but exceeded my expectations. From the simple intro Keep Your Eyes On The Road, to the sharp and catchy sound of the album's titular song,  to the melodic finish with Fires and Flames, it's a joyride . To date, Joyride is my favorite album by Tinashe.

The Kids Are Alright (Chloe x Halle)—I almost forgot about Chloe x Halle’s debut studio album, The Kids Are Alright. Their song Warrior for A Wrinkle in Time (2018) reminded me about it. The Kids Are Alright was released on March 23, 2018 and it’s worth the listen.  I love the vibe and sound of the entire album. Chloe and Halle's vocal capabilities shined through on tracks like Galaxy, Hi Lo, and all others. I caught their performance during the Coachella livestream over the weekend, and I continue to be impressed by how well they've honed their singing capabilities.

Primal Heart (Kimbra)—Admittedly, I haven’t listened to much music by Kimbra in a while. However, that has changed since I learned that she’s coming out with a new album, Primal Heart, which is set to be released on April 20, 2018. She already released a couple of songs from Primal Heart including: Top of the World, Everybody Knows, Human, and Version of Me. So far, I really dig the sound of those songs and am looking forward to the rest of the album.

Bittersweet Vol. 1 (OSHUN)—Bittersweet was released on April 6, 2018. Adri was the one who introduced me to OSHUN's music, and I discovered that I like their style a lot. So I was pretty excited when I first learned that they were gearing up to release new music. Well, Bittersweet Vol. 1 is out. And I love it. OSHUN's ability to create unique and catchy songs shines through.

Pray For the Wicked (Panic! At The Disco)I admit that I haven't kept up with a lot of Panic! At The Disco's newer music. However, I recently went on a binge-listen where I systematically went through all of their music. Suffice it to say, the hype I feel for Pray For the Wicked is real. The expected release date is June 22, 2018.
So, that's about it for today. I know I’ll do another post like this sooner or later. And I have to say that I’m incredibly excited for the rest of April because there are a couple more albums I'm waiting for. But until then, I have music by Chloe x Halle, Cardi B, Tinashe, and OSHUN to listen to. What music albums are you looking forward to? Or, what new music have you been listening to?

Upcoming Albums I'm Waiting For

You know, in early February it occurred to me that in January I failed to talk about the upcoming music I was waiting for during the time I was discussing goals and 2018 books. Music is a regular subject that I and my co-bloggers discuss on the blog, particularly for the weekly meme, Music Monday. So, this post makes sense in the grand scheme of things and is long overdue. Plus, there’s a lot of new music coming out this year by some of my favorite artist…
New album by Grimes — Grimes’s music has a very particular sound. Art Angels (2015) was one of my favorite albums of the year. It includes songs like Butterfly, Realiti (studio and demo version), and Venus Fly featuring Janelle Monáe. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to new music by Grimes.

Joyride by Tinashe—Tinashe is an artist that I sporadically listen to. Her music has been catchy in the past, and there are specific songs that I really love. And then, No Drama happened. I’m so hyped for this album, plain and simple.

Rihanna 9th Studio Album—I’ve listened to Rihanna’s music on and off through the years. But then there was Anti. Anti is my favorite album by Rihanna, and since its release I’ve been eagerly waiting for her next album. No release date yet.

Dirty Computer by Janelle Monáe—EXCITED SCREAMING!!! There was rumors of a 2017 release, but it didn't happen. However, last Friday, Janelle Monáe released the title and a short teaser trailer for her upcoming album Dirty Computer.

Cardi B Studio Album—Bodak Yellow was one of the catchiest singles to come out of 2017. I’m looking forward to whatever music Cardi B releases next, whether it’s another single or a full album.

Twenty One Pilots
—Who knows when we’ll get an update on their next album, but I’m willing to patiently wait.

Florence and the Machine 4th studio album—Ceremonials was the album that introduced me to Florence and the Machine. I still love it seven years later. It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything about the band, and I recently checked for news and saw that they’re working on another album. No release date as of when I wrote this post.

Childish Gambino’s next album—I’m sad about this one. I really am. If you google his name + new album, you’ll see that Donald Glover is retiring his Childish Gambino pseudonym after this next album. I’m so sad, but I’m also looking forward to it.
So, that is my list of music I’m looking forward to. I’m certain that as the year goes on more and more music is likely to be added.

What albums are you waiting for?
