Breana: Why hello, its been a while. First thing's first, Happy New Year! With that out of the way, I'm officially back from my break (more on that later/on a different upcoming blog post). While I was gone, I got back into Tinashe's music. She had a new album out in September of 2023, which sent me down a rabbit hole of gathering all my favorite songs of hers for my playlist. One of them is Spacetime. I love the general vibe of this song.

Breana: Lately, I've been listening to Tinashe's holiday album called Comfort & Joy. My pick for today is her cover of Last Christmas. The original is a classic, but I like this version too.

Adri: I found some older songs that I like. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! by Frank Sinatra and I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm by Billie Holiday.

Andrea: So the Christmas Season is upon us, which means it's time for Christmas music. With that said, I'm starting the season listening to  Soul Holidays by Sounds of Blacknes and Fall In Love At Christmas by Mariah Carey, Khalid, and Kirk Franklin. I didn't think that I would share a Mariah Carey song this year, but then...she released new Christmas music, and I love it!

Have an amazing week, and stay safe this holiday season!

Breana: I know I talked about Save Room For Us by Tinashe featuring MAKJ on a different music Monday post (here). But I wanted to mention it again, because it now has a music video. The choreography is great, and it fits the song so well.

Adri: I've been listening to music with a chill/low-fi vibe. So my pick today is Where I Met You by Moods.

Andrea: Flashback to the oldies! I'm currently listening to We Are Family by Sister Sledge.

Breana: It has been kind of busy on my end these past couple of weeks, and I’m finally getting back to participating in Music Monday. I’m currently listening to Tinashe’s new album, Songs For You. It’s a solid album, and I have to admit that this is my favorite body-of-work by Tinishe to date. The sound and the feel of it reminded me of some of Tinashe’s earlier music, as well as hip-hop and R&B from the 90’s and early 2000’s. Songs For You has so many good tracks to choose from—like Know Better, Life’s Too Short, Stormy Weather and Hopscotch, just to name a few—so it was a little hard to pick just one to focus on today. I ultimately went with two of my favorites: Save Room For Us and Story Of Us.

I enjoyed all of the songs from Songs For You mainly because of how well it demonstrated Tinashe’s vocal capability. Plus the lyrics and beats were excellent. I recommend giving the whole album a listen.

Adri: So, according to my 2019 Spotify Wrapped, I've listened to Caravan Palace for a total of 74 hours and my favorite song is About You. I can't dispute that, so About You featuring Charles X is my pick for today.

If you have Spotify, what was your most listened to song/artist/album? If not, what are you listening to this week?

Music Monday (42): Tinashe & Kimbra

   Rules:
  • Music Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Lauren Stoolfire at Always Me that asks you to share one or two songs that you've recently enjoyed. For the rules, visit the page HERE
Breana: Recently, there have been a lot of new albums coming out, and what I’ve been listening to basically consists of almost everything I mentioned in my last music related post. My first pick is Joyride by Tinashe. This is one of my favorite songs from the album and it’s second only to No Drama...

Kimbra’s new album came out last Friday and I’ve been listening to it off and on since. One of my favorite songs is Human. I love the sound of it....

Of course, there are other songs from Primal Heart that I really loved like Top of the World, Like They Do On the TV, and Recovery. With that said, I recommend checking out the whole album particularly if you’re already a fan of Kimbra’s music or are looking for a good place to start…

Music Monday (6) Tinashe, Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas, and the trio of Jaded(s)

Normally, I don’t participate in two memes in one day, but today I’m going to do it. So, in addition to Music Monday, I'm also participating in Musing Mondays for the first time in a couple of weeks. And, of course, Adri is back today, and we’re going to talk about more of the music we’re currently listening to.
For my first pick today, I'm going with one of my favorite songs,  Feels Like Vegas by Tinashe. I first heard about Tinashe while listening to a radio station—I don’t remember which it was—but I do remember really liking All Hands on Deck, which led me to search for more of her music. And that's how I discovered Feels Like Vegas.

Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas are so underrated, which is a shame because I really love their music, especially Tired Oak. There are other fantastic songs like Caught Up and Sorry I Stole Your Man, but for today I'm sticking with Tired Oak.

Hi, Adri here again, I'm back for another round of Music Monday. This week, I wanted to share music in a slightly different way. Hence, the last part of the title for this post "...and the trio of Jaded(s)". For my picks this week, all the songs have the same name, but they are different.

For Jaded by Deadmau5, I only found it because I went hunting for other songs after listening to ALL the versions of Ghost N Stuff.

I've been listening to a lot of songs by Lone after finding the song Pineapple Crush. So, I was around when Reality Testing dropped. Naturally, I tried to listen to all of the songs when I found Jaded. Lone has too many songs, and I don't favor one over the other (he can't put out any songs that I don't like).

And the last song from the trio of Jaded(s). I've been listening to Disclosure since their song featuring Sam Smith. So, like Lone, I was following them when their album dropped. After listening to the song and watching the video a couple of times, it was then that I realized that Jaded looked familiar. And I was right. Dun-dun-dun!

Have you listened to any songs that have the same or similar name?
