Quarterly Recap: July-September

It’s hard to believe it’s already October, but it’s already time for the next quarterly recap. Today, I’m going to go over the reviews and other posts that have appeared on the blog between July and September.

2020 has been an unpredictable year, so I’m not making any concrete plans. I’m going to skip right to some of the posts that will appear on the blog this month. Starting on October tenth, I’m going to share some Halloween themed art from my sketchbook. I read the fifth volume of The Case Study of Vanitas in September, so there will be a review for that. I’m also reviewing The Sisters of Straygarden Place and The Eternal City later in this month. I also read an ARC of Tales From the Hinterland, and I really enjoyed it. The review for it will be posted closer to the release date, which isn’t until next year. However, if you enjoyed The Hazel Wood duology, then I recommend Tales From the Hinterland.

Quarterly Recap: April-June

It’s hard to believe that it’s already seven months into 2020, but here we are. It’s also time for the usual quarterly recap. As usual, I’m starting with reviews.

Looking ahead, I really don’t have any solid plans for the next three months, and I’m not trying to make any. 2020 has been fairly unpredictable, and I plan on just rolling with the flow. I do have a couple of upcoming posts this month that I’m fairly excited to share. I recently read one of my most anticipated books of 2020: Haunted Heroine, book #4 in the Heroine Complex series by Sarah Kuhn. My review for it will be on the blog on the release day. Next, I listened to Chloe X Halle’s latest album, Ungodly Hour, and I have a post for that too (which will be up sometime this month). I also checked out Lindsay Ellis’s debut novel, Axiom’s End, so there will be a review for that too this month.

Quarterly Recap: January-March

It’s been a very hectic and unpredictable beginning to the year. It’s also finally time for the first quarterly recap of 2020.

I don’t currently have too many concrete plans at the moment. I do want to do something art related again, since it’s something I enjoy.

Some blog posts that are coming soon…

I got approved for a copy of Heiress for Hire by Madeline Hunter. So you can expect my thoughts about it sometime closer to the release date. I also listened to Death Stranding: Timefall, so there’s going to be a post about that. And, last, but certainly not least, I read one of my most highly anticipated books of 2020: Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire. The review should be live on the blog Wednesday morning next week.

Quarterly Recap: July-September

Well, it's time for another Quarterly Recap. The year is definitely flying by, and it feels like it hasn’t been that long since I last sat down to compile a list of links for a Quarterly Recap. However, October is here, and I finally have a legitimate excuse to rewatch all of my favorite Halloween themed movies. It's also been hot lately, and I have my fingers crossed that cooler weather is on the way.

Looking ahead, I have some Halloween themed art posts that’ll be up on the blog later in the month. I also have a post about Tove Lo’s new album, Sunshine Kitty. It’ll be on the blog this Friday. As far as books, I had a couple of reviews ready since August, which kept the blog active during September. So I had time to pick up a couple of spooky/horror novels in preparation for October—books like Dead Voices by Katherine Arden (sequel to Small Spaces) and the Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. The reviews for them will be on the blog later in the month.

Quarterly Recap: April-June

It’s time for another Quarterly Recap. It feels like this year is flying by, but what can you do about it? Tell “time” not to go forward? I don’t think so. Besides, I have some upcoming posts—including a couple of reviews—that I’m excited to share on the blog. Plus, the release dates for some of the albums and fall books I’m looking forward to are approaching.

Looking back, I noticed that I didn’t get around to working on another colored pencil post. However, I’ve decided to hold onto that idea and use it at a later date. I was also largely inactive on the blog during the month of June. I needed the break, and it gave me some time to just read and create without feeling like I was running out of time. That being said, I read a lot of good books during the last 3 months. Among my favorites being: the entire Binti trilogy, Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey, and The Missing of Clairdelune by Christelle Dabos. So, as usual, I’m starting off with reviews….

Looking ahead, I have watercolor and music related posts that I will put on the blog sometime in July. And in September I will be talking about Word to the Wise (book #10 in the Library Lover’s Mystery series), as well as one of my new favorite romance novels: Well Met by Jen DeLuca. Word to the Wise is an excellent addition to the series. Well Met involves a Renaissance Faire and banter between the characters while they’re in costume. However, that’s all I’m going to say about those books until August and September.
What’s a recent read that you really enjoyed?

Quarterly Recap: January-March

I find that I spend the first couple of months of the year just trying to get back on track with blogging, and it reflects whenever I look over what I’ve gotten done. So that means it’s time for the first quarterly recap of 2019. It doesn’t seem like three full months have already gone by, but according to the current date—April 2nd—it has. The next thing you know, it’ll be November and then it'll be time to break out the Christmas decorations, but I digress. Let’s get on to the review section of this recap….

I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with Weekend Tidbits. At the beginning of January, I had a…somewhat solid plan of what I wanted to do; however, I’m not too sure about it now. In the coming months, I want to put more work into a Weekend Tidbits overhaul so it doesn’t end up being one of my blogging resolutions in 2020. I also want to do another post dedicated to colored pencils. Namely because I have a very old set of Crayola Colored Pencils in fairly good condition with some of them being mostly unused, because it’s easy to tell which colors were my favorite.

Also, there are two upcoming reviews I’m excited to share on the blog. The first is for The Consuming Fire by John Scalzi, which will be on the blog next Wednesday. And the other is for The Missing of Clairdelune by Christelle Dabos, translated by Hildegarde Serle—which will be posted closer to the release date...

I want to do more art/random type posts again. I kept up with them in July and August. However, for the past month, I’ve experienced some creative burnout and couldn’t figure out what I wanted to write or read for a few weeks—and the things I did create were ones I didn’t want to share on the blog. Luckily, October is one of my favorite months, and I have a couple of different posts planned. And if all goes well, they should appear sometime this month or in November.

Upcoming posts that are already scheduled....

On Friday, I’m going to post my thoughts about Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. Later, I have reviews for Mem by Bethany C. Morrow and The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory. I also have a spotlight post coming up that I’m excited to share.

Quarterly Recap: April-June

It feels like it was just yesterday when I sat down to write the last quarterly recap post, even though I know it was three months ago. So much has gone on, but I feel like I’m reading less—specifically, I’m having a harder time finding books I want to read. I do have to say that the books I finished reading were ones I really loved. So, that counts for something. Anyway, on to the recap!

I want to get back into the habit of reading more often; although, this one depends on what books I come across. Currently, I have some eARCs that I’m excited to dive into, including Jasmine Guillory’s The Proposal, and Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. I also want to make some more art related posts since I really enjoy putting them together....

Quarterly Recap: January-March

It’s finally time for another Quarterly Recap. That obligatory recap post that appears once every three months on Our Thoughts Precisely. It feels like forever since I last sat down to write and collect links for this type of post, the time gap even longer thanks to the annual skip I took at the end of last year. So, starting with reviews….

Looking back, the last three months are pretty much what I expected them to be. In January, there was a small decrease in the amount of blog posts since I was just coming back from being on an extended break from blogging after the holidays. So, it took a minute to get back into the swing of things. So, looking ahead, I have a couple of posts that I’m excited to share on the blog including Acrylics #2 and an updated upcoming music/recent release list.

Quarterly Recap: July-September

Hello, how have you been? Its finally fall, October is here, and today I'm going to be doing a quarterly recap. There have been some real highs and lows these past three months, but I'm going into October with a good dose of optimism (I'm finally over the reading slump I got stuck in during the middle of September, plus Halloween is coming)...

I'm looking forward to reading and accomplishing more during the rest of the year. That reading slump in September was just...ugh. However, while I wasn't reading, I had more time to work on some different posts for the blog, including a few more art supply reviews (one of them includes a fan art of Padme Amidala, which I'm super excited to talk about on the blog). I had a lot of fun writing about my paintings, and am planning to work on more art related things in the future.

Also, it's freaking OCTOBER! Obviously, I’m looking forward to everything Halloween related including—but not limited to—movies, TV shows, and desserts/food/drinks.
